A woman was walking on a sidewalk on Fifth A venue in Manhattan when the heel of her shoe got caught between adjoining pieces of the concrete sidewalk. We claimed that the space/ gap between the two pieces of sidewalk was excessively wide and deep and that the owner of the building failed to inspect, repair and maintain the sidewalk and failed to replace the caulking which ha dworn away in the gap. Due to her heel getting stuck in the gap, the woman twisted her ankle and fractured her ankle for which she underwent surgery with insertion of a plate and screws. We went to trial and the Jury found for our client on liability and said the building owner was responsible for the condition which caused her accident. The case then settled for the sum of $950,000.
